As part of the Poes’ Homes initiative, we shared asthma awareness as we handed out fresh school supplies for the upcoming school year.
Each bag that students received contained an asthma awareness sheet for both parents and students.

“Science and Scarves”, a Poes Homes initiative during which we educate the community about asthma and dental health while handing out winter gear.

By parternering with popscope, students were able to learn about astronomy and asthma during our “Science and Scarves” event!

The student who painted this piece experiences PTSD and plays Pokemon to escape from the violence and trauma in his life. He painted these Pokemon to protect him, just as they do the characters in the game.
This artwork, inspired by another student, represents trauma through the black background and uses the Pokemon to represent light and protection.
The young girl is this painting is expressing extreme sadness and PTSD as she witnesses a fire destroying a home and all of a family's belongings inside.
Sam painted a young girl who is also experiencing PTSD. Her PTSD is a result from family trauma, more specifically the result of her brother leaving.
This painting was entitled "Anxiety Bowl" to represent the anxiety of the painter's mother as she struggles to provide food and other resources for the family.
This student wishes to express the battle fought by those experiencing depression. The young girl in her artwork is equipped with a sword and shield as those around her shout harmful words and judge from afar.

During a meeting with Rev. King about another Poe Homes School Kickoff Initiative, MGG got to see the Baltimore Christian Warriors marching band, a band started by Rev. King to keep the kids busy and off of the street!

violence-A request made by local parents urged us to partner with community organizations to have a session about gun violence and death. During this session, it was revealed that each child had lost a loved one during a shooting. Total number of children affected = 32
